Prepared foods and retort foods

In the last English class, we discussed prepared foods and retort foods. I used to eat them almost every day in Japan before coming to London. Then I don't hesitate to eat them. But Korean students said that it was unbearable. They said they should not eat them because they do not believe the safety: we cannot know how they were prepared and when they were prepared. They insisted that sales staff can cheat the description on labels. The other students came from other countries advocated their insistence. I think they could be right, but most Japanese believed the safety and descriptions, although it might sometimes cheat us. I though there is cultural difference.
