Clinton manifestó que el presidente Barack Obama ha designado a Afganistán como "aliado principal" de Estados Unidos fuera de la esfera de la OTAN. Este estatus, que hasta ahora se ha otorgado a países como Japón o Israel, permitirá forjar una estrecha cooperación militar luego de que las tropas estadounidenses abandonen el país asiático para finales de 2014.
Clinton declared that the president Barack Obama has appointed Afganistan as "ally principal" of the US outside of the NATO. This status, that until now has been granted as country, as Japan and Israel, permit a close military cooperation soon after of the US troops abandoned the Asian country since the end of 2014.
