A Birthday Party

Today, I went to a little girl's birthday party. It has been so long since I went to a birthday party, I think it was 6 years ago. I used to shy away from parties because I would find them to be tiresome. But, now I realize how much fun I've been missing. I realized that you sometimes just have to enjoy how children play and entertain them with games. That's what I enjoyed today. There was a clown who encouraged people to sing and to play. She was very amusing. She set up children's games. For instance, she gave them a cord, and the boys had to pull the string on one side and the girls had to pull on the other side. A very simple game but so fun.
I took a few photos with my new camera when the children were playing and when they sang the "happy birthday" song. I really liked hearing that song again. I'll definitely go to another party when I'm invited.

What you wrote wasn't grammatically incorrect, but usually it is more common to use "ago" when talking about when you last did something. Example: I went on vacation six months ago, I graduated four years ago, etc.
