2. Päinvastainen käännös

Tällä kertaa aion kääntää englantiin suomeksi olevan tekstin. Teen tämän saadakseni tietää oikeasta taidostani suomessa mitä tulee minun ymmärrykseeni kirjoitetussa muodossa.

Jättäkääkin hiomiotta tiettyjen pilkkujen väärinkäyttö. Niillä piti korvata pisteet jotteivät virkkeet jakautuisi lyhyemmiksi lauseiksi tekstin tultua julki.

Lennon täytti 40 vuotta 9, lokakuuta 1980.
Lennon turned 40 on October the 9th 1980.

Samaan aikaan hän julkaisi comeback-albuminsa, joka kantoi nimeä Double Fantasy.
At the same time he was to release his comeback-album called Double Fantasy.

Tällä levyllä puolet lauluista on Johnin ja puolet Yokon tekemiä.
Half of the songs in that album were made by John and half by Yoko.

Lennon palasi julkisuuteen optimistisena ja haaveili tulevaisuudesta ja kiertueista.
Lennon returned to the spotlights in an optimistic mood dreaming of the future and of touring.

Beatles-vuosista oli myös jäljellä enää hyvät muistot, ja välit entisiin bändikavereihin olivat parantuneet.
His relations with the other Beatles had improved and there were also good memories from the group.

Aika oli parantanut haavat.
Time had taken care of the wounds.

Albumin julkaisun jälkeen Lennon siirtyi takaisin studioon äänittämään jo seuraavaa albumiaan.
After the release of the album, Lennon returned to the studio to record his following album.

Tarkoituksena oli julkaista vielä yksi albumi Double Fantasyn jatkeeksi ja lähteä sen jälkeen kiertueelle.
His plan was to release a continuation for Double Fantasy and then focus on touring.

Joulukuun 8, päivä muutti kaiken.
However, on December the 8th everything changed.

Entinen Beatles-fani Mark Chapman oli oleskellut Lennonin Dakota-rakennuksen läheisyydessä jo kaksi viikkoa.
It was when former Beatles fan Mark Champ had been lingering in the vicinities of Lennon's hotel for two weeks.

Lennonin lähtiessä studiolle Chapman pyysi nimikirjoituksen Double Fantasy -albumiinsa.
When Lennon was leaving to the studio, Champman asked Lennon to autograph his Double Fantasy album.

Viisi tuntia myöhemmin, noin kello 22,49 Lennon palasi studiosta ja Chapman odotti porttikäytävän varjossa.
Five hours later, at 22:49, Lennon returned from the studio as Chapman waited for him hiding near the gateway.

Lennonin käveltyä ohi Chapman huusi hänen peräänsä ”Mister Lennon?”.
When Lennon walked past Chapman, he uttered from behind ”Mister Lennon?”.

Kun Lennon kääntyi katsomaan, Chapman ampui viisi luotia häntä kohti.
When Lennon turned to see what he wanted, Chapman shot Lennon five times.

Luodit osuivat selkään ja käsivarteen.
The bullets hit Lennon's back and forearm.

John Lennonin viimeiset sanat olivat ”I’m shot”.
John Lennon's last words were ”I'm shot”.

Hän kuoli verenhukkaan Rooseveltin sairaalassa.
He later died from blood loss in the Roosevelt hospital.

Dakotan vahtimestari Jay Hastings korjasi talteen Lennonin kasettinauhurin, jonka tämä oli kaatuessaan pudottanut.
Dakota's guard Jay Hastings picked up Lennon's cassette recorder which Lennon had dropped when he fell to the ground (mikä on sanan talteen perusmuoto/ Talsi, Talti, Talde).

Yoko Ono otti myöhemmin haltuunsa Lennonin veriset silmälasit.
Yoko Ono took to herself later Lennon's bloody glasses.

Samana iltana uutinen Lennonin kuolemasta järkytti ympäri maailmaa tavalla, jolle vertailukohdaksi kelpaa presidentti Kennedyn murha 17 vuotta aikaisemmin.
In the same evening, the social impact of Lennon's death on the world proved to be equivalent to that of Kennedy's which had taken place 17 years earlier.

Lennon polttohaudattiin pari päivää kuolemansa jälkeen.
Lennon was cremated a couple of days (vai two days?) after his death.

Paikalla oli vain hänen lähipiirinsä: Yoko ja Sean sekä Julian.
In his burial his closest acquaintances were present: Yoko, Sean and Julian.

Hän kysyi että miksi Chapman oli murhannut Johnin, vaikka hän piti Johnista.
He asked for justifications for John's death as he liked him.

I answered that Chapman might have just been disturbed in a way.

Sean sanoi, että heidän pitäisi ottaa selvää oliko mies häiriintynyt vai tappanut Johnin tarkoituksella.
Sean suggested that it would be a good idea to find out if the perpetrator was indeed sick or if the killing had a purpose.

Sanoin että siitä päättää tuomari.
I told him that it was up to the referee, not me.

Sean itki myöhemmin isänsä kuolemaa.
Sean later mourned his father's death.
