What do you recommend as an English-English dictionary for students of English?
What different pronunciations do the dark blue and blue items have in Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary?
"I think" is a good phrase to use for your opinion. However, I think "the fact is that" is not good. Some people use it excessively to make their papers longer, so the phrase is often treated as filler, or ignored by the reader. It's considered not good writing style.
When writing in English, if something is an opinion, you should always say that it is; but if it is a fact, you don't have to say that it is. People will assume that you mean it to be a fact by default, if you don't say that it's an opinion.
As for dictionaries, I don't know what is good for learners of English. I often use www.dictionary.com when I am at a computer, though. Because it's free. ^▽^
It's interest to use it excessively to make their papers longer, I think.
