After the class, I talked to my teacher today. Last week was great , we did something interesting and useful. However, I feel bored about classes of this week.
Now we are learning the topic of travelling. Yesterday she gave us a pic of car and let us to find out those vocabularies in German, like how to say the tire? the belt? the windshield wiper? For me, it was just watst time. First, I don't even know how to speak most parts of car in Chinese. Second, I don't have a car in Germany. I think what I only need to know is how to say the trunk in German since I am highly likely to meet an annoying police who wants to harass me.Or, when I want to have some fun with my boyfriend.
There is a girl from China, and we talked about this on the class. She also thought this material is totally not useful. And both of us don't want to look up for the dictionary on our class. We prefer the teacher tell us those vocabularies , and if we like, we can try to memorise some of them.
Today, she gave us an short news about top travelling destinations. She let us to read part of it, I mean everyone was assighed to read different part of the news and after that we need to talk about those imformation we read from it. I have to say I don't like this at all. Obviously, the article is too difficult for me, there are too many new words on it, too complicated structure. But I still tried to say somoething.
I told her I don't want to look up for the dictionary on the class. This is absolutely not the reason why I pay for the class. Besides, I prefer to stick on our book rather than to learn something about car. My English is not good enough to let her understand me, She told me why she want us to check the words is because sometimes we don't know which one is correct on our dic. Yes, I totally agree with her, so why don't you just tell us which one is correct?
I also told her we can do this at home. She said she understand Asian students like to do homework, but European or Amercian students don't like it. So she need to compromisely do some exercise on our class. I was kinda of pissed by her words. She is just too smart to catagorise people in this way. Nobody likes to do homework, but if my teacher gives me some, i will finish it. That's it!
During the break, there was a girl from South Africa She was kind of teashing I and the chinese girl . She said we need to join the international evening held on Friday night, " don't always study".
Ya, right. We Asian are all nerdy and don't know how to party hard like you .Excuse me, I am not new to here, I don't need to join the city tour or trip of drinking. It doesn't mean I study hard.
I think my teacher might be too confedient about her teaching. So when I tried to communicate with her, she always have good reasons to explain why we need to do it. Like the car, she told me we need to get to know German cultrue (she means F1), and why we read the news is because we need to learn how to read newspaper.
She made me feel like I only want to do something very boring on the class. I just want to do some activities combined with the book. Then I would be more familiar with those vocabularies and grammar. Not like now, I don't know how to use it to speak my experiences but just waste time on checking some words I won't use it so far. I don't want to spend time on something I can do at home by ourselves, what I need is to practice how to speak German.
Bad communication. However, after talking to her , I realized I need to be more Germanylized.

We prefer the teacher tell us the vocabulary, and if we like, we can try to memorise (changing the s to z like the previous correcter is another US/English difference) some of them.
Today, she gave us a short news item about top travelling destinations.
She let us to read part of it, I mean everyone was assigned to read a different part of the news and after that we need to talk about the information we read from it.(She got us to read part of it, I mean everyone was assigned to read a different piece of that story and after we had to report back what we read.)

Not like now, I don't know how to use them to talk about my experiences but just waste time on checking some words I won't use, so far anyway.(Not like now, I don't have the vocabulary or grammar to talk about my experiences, and we're just wasting time looking at words I probably will never ever ever EVER use)
I don't want to spend time on something I can do at home by myself (singular to plural, I -> myself, we->ourselves), what I need is to practice how to speak German.
However, after talking to her, I realized I need to be more Germanized
You definitely need to be more Germanised, I think it's a big part of language learning is to take on aspects of the culture and identity of the native speakers because that aids communication and mutual understanding. When I'm studying Chinese I think of myself as growing a Chinese boy in my brain, who is going to deal with all the Chinese stuff in my life, and you know what, he doesn't like studying and homework either. This is a more holistic approach rather than thinking of language learning as a problem to be solved, like 'here's some words and some grammar, off you go!'. hmm long comment:)
