I started my intensive German class yesterday. Last week, I took a placement test for it. I spent some time on studying German since the semester is finished. Yesterday was the first day of the class, we didn't do a lot of things. My teacher gave us a paper to let us get to know each other.
I don't like my classmates very much. I think they are not very cool except some. I was a little disappointed by that because I already expect my intensive class for a long time.
Today my teacher gave me the book we use for the class. After that, I realized that I was assigned to the level of B1. I was quite surprised by that since I didn't even finish the level of A1. I think I should be at the level of A2.
However, I found it's not very difficult for me to understand the teacher. That doesn't mean I should stay at the class. Apperertly, some students already can speak good german and it definitely not good for me. No matter how harder I try, I will be the one the teacher going to neglect.
I talked this problem with some students. They have the same problem with me. Both of us thought we are not actually at the level of B1, but they said it's ok to stay at the class if we study harder.
I agree with them, but that's not what I want. As a biginner, I would rather spend more time going through the grammar. I don't want to tell others I am at the level of B1 but I can't even make a correct sentence. The grammar of German is extremely complicated (literally: annoying),I don't want to rush in anything especially when it comes to learing a language.
Today I decided to change to the class of A2. I was glad that I made a right decision. I like my new classmates and the teacher is more energic . I was surprisingly found there was one guy who is from my last german class. That means my result of the placement test is much better than him. HAHA. He is a spanish , and as I know he never did his homework. Even so,his speaking and listening ability is better than me. Maybe it's because spanish and german is more related than chinese is, sigh!
I don't care since I do enjoy learing German so far. I am also happy to have him as my classmate. Spanish people are very interesting and creative though a little bit noisy somehow. I hope after my intensive classes, I would have more confidence when speaking German.
