I and my colleague retried the experiment of yesterday. Today, I made sure the reagents and we succeeded at it. I saved my face. I finally said to my colleague, "you're lucky. If I was good experimenter, you won't know how you can recover from failed experiment!" I came under heavy glacial stares today too....
