maru's mommy : Spiritual World (2)

I'd like to talk about spirits today.

Every living thing is sure to die someday.
What do we become after death?
Even though I've never seen the posthumous world, I believe in the existence of spirits.
So, I think a spirit will exist even after the death of the human body.

A Japanese famous spiritualist, Hiroyuki Ehara, said that there is a spiritual world and every spirit comes to our world to train and improve itself. Since your hardships are given by yourself to train your spirit, not to torment you, you will surely overcome.
If you can overcome your hardships, your spirit will be able to improve.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I think people would be able to accept their hardships positively if they believed in this idea.

maru's mommy : Red Beet s (11)

Once my Kazakh friend said that she had never seen any red radishes( she said so) at Japanese supermarkets.
She told me that they are essential to borsch.

Last Tuesday, I thought I could find the radish when I saw a red turnip at the farmer's shop.
Since the woman who made them happened to be at the place, I said to her "My friends who is from Kazakhstan needs some red radish to make borsch. I am wondering if these are the ones."
She answered, "Maybe they are not. I think red beets are used for making borsch. Since there are some red beets in my farm, I'll bring them now."
I was a little surprised, but I accepted her kind offer.

After a while, she brought some little red beets and said, "I usually use leaves of beets for salad. So I'd like to know how to make borsch. Will you ask her how to make it and tell me?"
And then, she handed cute flowers to me and asked me to give them to my friend.
I answered with a smile, "Sure, I will."

I brought them to my friend yesterday.
She was really pleased with them and promised that she would make borsch and have lunch with me next week.
Since she asked me what kind of return gift she should give to the woman, I answered that the recipe of borsch would be good.

maru's mommy : The Youth Style of Language: 若者ことば (3)

I read an interesting article that reported about the words and pronunciations used by young people in the U.K.

Here are some features of the youth style of language:

* instead of "That's good!" or "I understand," youth will use a single adjective like "Safe!" "Sorted!" "Sound!" "Cool!" or "Wicked!"

* instead of "think," "the," "that's," "what" and "because," youth will say "fink," "da," "dat," "wot" and "coz"

* instead of using different tag questions like "isn't it?" "can't you?" or "don't they?" youth will use "innit"

Japanese young people are also good at making new words, and there are some books explaining their new words' meaning.
Nowadays, one of the language, "tabe-reru: 食べれる( someone can eat something)" instead of "tabe-ra-reru: 食べられる" is received by the general public.

However, I never say, "tabe-reru" because I don't think the expression is correct Japanese.

For rice farmers in my prefecture, it's time to prepare for planting rice.
Only my husband and I sow rice seeds on 110 plates every year.
However, we had two powerful helpers this year.
My Kazakh friend said to me that she wanted to experience sowing rice seeds when I told her that I had to prepare for planting rice.
So two of my friends, who are from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, came and helped us.
They were so quick-witted that they could work very well and they looked enjoy working in the green house.
Eventually, we could finish it before lunch.
Since I had thought we had to work after lunch, I was really happy.
My husband treated them lunch at the restaurant and we enjoyed eating there.
I really thank them!

maru's mommy : A Dog in Russian: Sa-ba-ka (2)

My Kyrgystan friend taught me the word, "dog" in Russian.
I don't know how to spell, but she pronounced the word, "Sa-ba-ka."
I said to her, "'Ba-ka' means stupid in Japanese."
She said with a smile,"I know it. Japanese 'Sa：さあ？ means that I don't know, so 'Sa-ba-ka' may mean that I don't know if he's stupid."
Her story was really interesting for me and I was impressed her intellect.

When I was in teenage, I liked reading comic books and I was happy with comics and some snacks.

I used to buy both weekly and monthly girls' comic magazines and enjoyed reading them at home.
One day my mother said to me, "You will be stupid because comics are drawn by stupid people."
Even though I didn't think cartoonists were stupid, her words made me wonder if I would be stupid.
I think especially mother's words have a great influence on their kids.

maru's mommy : Improper Customers (3)

One of my classmates is a chef.
He opened his own French restaurant last November in my home prefecture.
Since it takes about four hours by train to get there from here, I didn't have chance to go to his restaurant.

Eventually, I was able to go there to have lunch with my childhood friends last Thursday.
He said that we could stay until evening when I called him to reserve.
So, my friends and I enjoyed his beautiful dishes and plenty of talking.
His delicious dishes made me relaxed .
We greeted his wife helping to serve dishes and knew that his twelve-year-old son was doing the dishes because his school is in spring vacation.
Even though there were some elegant women who looked like wealthy, we common women never cared about ourselves.
After all customers left the restaurant, he sat down on the empty seat next to my friend and joined our conversations.
He said, "My son told me that you're the first people who were talking about geckos in here ."
It meant our absurd conversations might have been heard by everyone in the restaurant.
I was sorry that we were improper customers to his elegant restaurant.
However, he texted me at the time when he must have closed his restaurant that he enjoyed talking with us.
