(A) When Tom went out of the theater, his girlfriend had already gotten into a taxi.
(B) When Tom went out of the theater, his girlfriend had already gotten into the taxi.
Do you think these two sentences sound natural?
If you think so given some context, could you please tell me some example?
Thank you very much everyone!

It depends on the context. If you've already mentioned the taxi in a previous sentence, then you can call it "the taxi". Otherwise it's "a taxi".
