Phonetic Alphabet

I learned English from Troy last night.
A robber attacked a man, then he fell down with a wound on a road.
This is a story about the person who happened to pass by this way.
I spoke my thought using my vocabulary.
After that we talked about the pronunciation .
I wrote a phonetic alphabet and explained it, but he said "I have never seen the sign".
I would have thought all of the foreigner know it.
