There is a proverb said that chance favors the prepared mind. I believe in that. Prepared mind means hardworking, ongoing study, persevering, and being more professional etc. No doubt, the key factor of success is on yourself, but not on luck. As a Chinese saying said "Man proposes, God disposes".

I am a hard-working man, when I set a goal to do something, I will try my best to do it whatever the final result is successful or failed. Although I am so lucky that I have passed many exams in many times, I attribute these success to my hardworking and perseverance. For example, I past my college entrance exam, which entrance ratio was about 1:30 before sixteen years ago, and I past my postgraduate entrance exam, which entrance ratio was lower and competition was harder than a exam I have ever taken before. There is a little skill or technique in exam although, most of time is preparation for it, such as studying and reviewing, just as a saying said "No pain, No gain". After graduated from school, as a salary man or a businessman, working hard is also considered as an important performance assessment point in most of companies. I can still remember that before five years ago I took on a new project and was assigned as a key role faced directly with customer of Japan. It was a big challenge for me that I was a new comer in that business field and the delivery date was so urgent that no enough time to study and to take job training gradually. I worked very late every day and took my spare time to investigate problems and collect solutions. At last, customer was satisfied with my hard-working altitude and made a contrast with my company.

There are also many stories about how working hard is important for success. For example, Tomas Edison, the great and intelligent inventor, had done thousands of experiments before finding a final solution for the short life duration problem of light bulb. Also, the Chinese pianist Lang Lang has been famous in the world. Behind his honor and success was that he was practicing very hard every day when he was only three years old. Because of his hard-working and talented performance, he gained his first chance to attend an international contest and got a champion. As his first performing was successful in the international stage, then by his continuous hard-working, he got many chances to show his talented performance and becomes more and more successful in the world music stage.

At last, as "Man proposes, God dispose" referred previously, luck is not considered as an important factor for most of successful people, but in some situations, luck may be important to you, for example, when you buy a lottery, make a bet with someone or get an unpredicted trouble. I think such things are seldom occurred and rarely happened to you. If things you are going to do are not decided by luck, just try your best.
