What is the difference between these two grammar points.

The two points are very similar and can often be used in the same situations. One difference is that because「開けよう」is the volitional form, it expresses your intention. You wouldn't use this form for accidents that are about to happen.
You might use an infinitive (to + Verb) of purpose to keep that nuance: "I am (just) on my way to open the door."

"私はドアを開けるところです。" is spken Japanese,and "私はドアを開けようとする。" is written Japanese,that's all.Both of them express the same thing.

似たような意味ですが、上の方は、今まさにあけようとしているところ、"I'm about to open the door."と全く同じ。でも、下の文はちょっと違いますね。上でもおっしゃられてますが、そこに開けようとする「意思」があります。（といっても、上の文だって、「意思」がなければあけようとはしないと思いますが。）下の方は、どちらかというと、"I try to open the door."という感じでしょうか。でも、この文は現在形なので、実際に使われる場面では、現在形のままで使われることは少ないんじゃないかと思うんです。例えば、「私はドアを開けようとした。」（過去形）とか、「今、ドアを開けようとしているんだけど。（なかなか開かない）」（現在進行形）とか。"I tried to open the door."とか"I'm trying to open the door."でしょうか。でもきっと、文章の中ではどちらを使ってもいいような場面もたくさんあるんじゃないかと思います。ややこしいですね。

”私はドアを開けようとする。” sounds like recollection of yourself in another time and space.
It sounds like you're observing yourself objectively.
You can say "私はドアを開けるところです。" when you are about to open the door
but you cannot say "私はドアを開けようとする。" when you are about to open the door.
It sounds weird. It should be "私はドアを開けようとしています。" in that situation.

However, if you're watching a video footage or something in which you are about to open a door,
both sentences are okay.

For the difference between "開けるところ" and "開けようとする", the former simply means "about to open" whereas the latter means "try to open", which implies that the door is locked or won't open easily.
