I don't mean I want to talk about French cheese. :P
In my previous article, I told about Kiri shortly and now I talk about it mainly.

This is a kind of wood and it's originally from China.
It's light but thick and it can protect the stuff inside from outside fire or humidity, so it's used for chests or dressers. My parents bought a chest made of Kiri when I got married, it's expensive though. I keep some kimono in it.
I've seen some fruits are in its box as a souvenir.
It's also used for musical instruments like Koto ("琴", Japanese zither or harp)
Japanese government use its mark in its emblem.
