I have been addicted to reading comic essays. Comic essay means an essay in comic-book form. Japanese call this genre of books comic essay. Is this a Japlish? I like reading both comics and essays. So, I was glad to know this genre a few years ago. Because comic essay has both genre's elements.

Most cartoonist of this genre are women who are my generation. They illustrate comics about various topics. For example, tips of cleaning rooms, travel reports and a single woman's daily life.

A cartoonist whose husband is a depressive illustrated comics about their life under medical treatment. Her books taught Japanese about the depression. It was dramatized and filmed.

Another cartoonist's work which was filmed was translated into English. The title is "My Darling is a Foreigner".

I found reviews about these works :)

Comic essay tells me a lot of things and arouses my sympathy. Probably, they are reasons I like this genre. I want to read this genre more♪
