eiko : Japanese Prime Minister (1)

If you asked "Who is Japanese Prime Minister?" who would you name? If you don't know Japanese Prime Minister's name, it is natural because Japanese Prime Minister often leaves his office. I'm Japanese but even for me, it confused me. Why does that happen so often? I personally think that it is because of Japanese resistance against the government. Japanese people don't say anything directly but they show their thinking by answering questionnaire. When the cabinet's approval rating dropped, Prime Minister can't continue his office. The worst point of often changing Prime Minister is that the policy is not affective or slow for a long time.
(By the way I didn't know what pronoun should I have used when I talk about my country's people. "people", "they",or "we"? Does it depend on my perspective?)

eiko : Why now? (0)

Have you ever experienced that you recorded your favorite drama, and you found the drama wasn't recorded. I experienced such a situation recently. I watch a lot of American drama on the TV through the net. The end of the last year, I recorded many dramas. AXN channel broadcasted whole series of the "Lost." I haven't watched the series from the 4th to the final. So I was really looked forward watching them. They were recorded but there were many flickers in screen. So, I couldn't watch all of the recorded drama. I had to make phone call to have the TV fixed. It caused phone line of a telephone office. Why now of all the times? The Good point is that I don't need spend the time to watch the dramas. Sigh.

eiko : Embarrassing story (1)

The other day, my class mates and I planned a class party. We were going to gather in front of our university’s library. I went there about five minute before and most of my friends were already there. I ran up to them and said, “Hi, was I late?” One of them said, “No…” But she seemed to feel strange. I watched to her face clearly, and I recognized they were strangers. My eye sights are very bad, so I couldn’t see and one of them looked familiar for me. I said to them “Oh, I’m sorry!! I thought I knew you.” And I burst at laughing. They laughed, too. Then my friends came. I told them that incident. They laugh out loud. I was embarrassed but had fun!

eiko : To study abroad (1)

I’m thinking about studying abroad. In fact, I took an exam for exchange program and I passed the exam. So, I’m going to go to America this year from July. I haven’t got a real sense yet. I feel more nervous than I feel excited. I want to study English language and English / American literature. By the way my spelling is very bad. I always rely on software the “Word” even easy words like “delicious”. I hover between “delisious” and “delicious.” I’m studying English in the university. So, I’m embarrassed to say this! I doubt my English level by myself. Actually, before posting my journal, I wrote it by using the “Word” then I pasted it.

eiko : Could you help me? (5)

I’m studying English syntax. Syntax is very difficult for me but I like it. I have homework. I have to examine whether the following sentence is correct or not. Could I ask you about the sentence? Is this following sentence correct? Our teacher said to ask to native English speaker. I thought it is good idea to ask Lang-8 user about this.
Could you check this sentence? I've asked before another sentence.
The sentence is:
Charlie read the book on the table in the kitchen and Jane read the one on the table.
Please focus on the word, "one". Is it possible to say this way?

eiko : Friends (Not TV drama) (0)

I took the TOIEC test yesterday. It was held in our university by chance. I was able to relax. When I got into this university for the first time, I was very nervous. I didn’t have any friends, even acquaintances. As I wrote, I’m not young. I had thought it was natural of young classmates to avoid me and I was also very nervous to talk to them. I had thought if I couldn’t make friends, it would be OK because I could concentrate my study. One week went by. I didn’t talk to anyone at that week. I thought it was not good, so I talked some classmates and I made a lot of friends. They are very kind. Nowadays they talk to me when we run into in campus. They call me by my first name adding “-san” like “einoji-san”. (“-san” means "Mr." or "Ms." in Japanese. It is more casual way than "Mr." and "Ms." I always feel very happy when they call me “einoji-san”.

eiko : French language (1)

I studied French language in my first year in the university. I always struggled against French, but I couldn’t get improved at all. But I have confidence to continue studying French because I can continue studying English for time. After the class finished, I went to a school for studying French privately. And then I gave up! I couldn’t speak French, read French, and listen to French. I can just say “D’accord (OK)” and “Je m’appelle Einoji, (My name is Einoji),” and another few words. I checked my spelling. Sigh…I still study French in the future. I love French language. It’s my one way love, though.

eiko : Studying English and mother tongue (1)

I went to a lecture of Kumiko Torikai yesterday. She is a professor at Rikkyo University and a famous interpreter. The topic was “Studying English and mother tongue”. She said that if we want to improve our English, it is very important to have good skills of mother tongue. It means we don’t have to study foreign language from childhood. It is more important to study mother tongue. I agree with her. If we don’t have writing and reading skills in mother tongue, we can’t read and write other foreign language. I started studying English late. Her seminar game me courage.

eiko : strange mail (1)

I got strange e-mails from my English friend. He just said, “Hey Einoji I can’t believe this.” And he put just URL. I thought it was a kind of spam mail, but I returned email him because his mail is always simple, so I didn’t know if it was his real letter or not. And I thought if I didn’t return a mail, he couldn’t know he sent me a spam mail. Then “he” sent three strange mails to me. Finally he returned me a mail. He said that someone stole his password. Now it is alright. If I were him I would be very nervous and scared but he was not. He didn’t care at all.

eiko : a can of beer (0)

Recently, I haven’t had opportunities to go out for drink with my friends. I go to the university and go back home. That is my daily life. I always am thinking about studying English. But a little bit tired of my daily life. I drank a can of beer yesterday. I was surprised. I could relax. I banned by myself to drink alcohol because once I drank I become crazy. (I’m joking.) If I drink, I can’t think logically and I can’t do my homework, so I usually don’t drink. From now I allowed myself to drink sometimes. After drinking I slept soon without doing homework, though.

eiko : Speech (0)

Today I had to deliver a speech in the “Public Speaking Class”. The topic was free, so I chose the topic about “iPS cells.” Do you know that? I deeply regret choosing this topic. It was really difficult for me. There were a lot of scientific terms. But I’m really interested in this topic, so I borrowed four books from university’s library and studied. I was able to do the speech, so-so. After the class, I had been assigned to explain as a tutor (?) in the "English Syntax Class". I had to spend most of the time of my week end to study for preparation of these subjects last weekend. It was tough but fun.

Recently, I’ve been a big fan of Kou Machida who is an Akutagawa Prize-winning writer and a punk musician. Our university held a seminar and invited him as a lecturer. I related it a little bit. After the seminar, I could go out for drink with Kou machida and with other members. I was able to drink with him, sit next to him, and talked. It was on September 29. Then I emailed him to his official blog. I thought it was late to send email yesterday. I didn’t expect his response at all. And…And…He returned back of my email!! I’m really happy!!

Bibliobattle is a style of social book reviewing. In Bibliobattle, participants introduce their favorite books and select a “champ book” at the end. We do that by using newspaper. We gather once a week and introduce interesting news. We can study much news. It is interesting.

eiko : About Glee again (0)

As I wrote, I’m really into TV program　“Glee”, so I’m watching “the Glee project” now. I’m impressed by the project. The members were chosen in 40,000 people and 12 members are competing for the first place. I feel a matter of difference in national character. They have to show their characteristics points clearly. Some of members say about their mates’ bad things. For example, “She is mean.” or “She is filthy.” like that. Among Japanese, we usually don’t say these things because we want to be looked as a good person. I don’t know if it is a good behavior. (This is my personal opinion.)

I watched an old French movie on TV. The title is "LES QUATRE CENTS COUPS". It was made by François Roland Truffaut. He is famous director, but I’ve never seen his movies before. That was great! At the last scene, I said, “Has it over already!?” I didn’t want to finish yet. The boy, who was in the movie did good performance. I strongly recommend you to watch this movie!

Recently, I’m really into a TV drama, “Glee.” I always like musicals and I went to see musicals when I went to London last year. I saw “Les Miserable” and “Billy Elliot.” They are great! In the Billy Elliot, a boy made a marvelous performance. I heard the children are from The Royal Ballet. I don’t know it is true or not. So, Glee attracted me very much. My favorite episode is Finn’s mother and Kurt’s father’s wedding. The songs in this scene were good. I like Kurt and Brittany. Glee 2 was over, so I’m watching “the Glee project” now. I wish they came to Japan.

He said, "I like your voice. It is soft." I am going to go to junior high school to practice teaching next year. I want to tell myself, "Good luck!"
