My Son and modern art

Yesterday I visited my son's event of modern art. My son graduated from one of art universities in Tokyo. This university is a difficult one to get in and costs a lot of money. As you know education is expensive in Japan. We had to save quite a lot of money to prepare for the university.
Anyway, now he doesn't have a regular job, but just a part-time job which has nothing to do with his art. We support him a little, but mostly he is doing OK. He lives alone in a small apartment. He saves money to do his art.
He sometimes holds events of modern art. Yesterday's one was a big one. To tell the truth, I cannot understand his art. He says his art is a kind of performance art, or cutting edge art , which means to me ”Oh, dear, what's this?" I hope some of you could get what I mean.
Now he looks very happy and satisfied with his life. But I am worried about his future. My son is a stubborn boy (to me he is always a boy). I know he will do what he wants to do.
I just want him to have a happy life whatever he does to make a living.

My son is a stubborn boy (to me he is always a boy). The sentence is OK, but I would write: (to me he will always be a boy).
I just want him to have a happy life in whatever he does to make a living.
Hi, yukiyanagi-san
Congrats on the success of his art exhibition!
He must be the person who can live only following his way.
Maybe all what we parents can do is just watching over our children.
Let's trust our kids, who we have brought up with our full of love.
Anyways, I was quite happy to read your new, heartful entry^^!
It made me smile^^
