In addition, I was pretty surprised they took vacations quite easily. Several teachers at school and my hostmother had one or several weeks off from work. Needless to say, all of them can’t have the same sense of value regarding that. However, many Canadian I know seem to take that for granted as their rights. In contrast, we’re unwilling to take breaks even if we’re entitled to paid leave, generally speaking. That’s because we tend to be concerned that taking leave will give somebody else troubles.
Team play culture works better when you’re in a jam together or have to cooperate something together. Practically, the Japanese helped quite well with each other and follow public order even after the serious disaster occurred on March 11th, 2011. We’re educated to put up with personal minor complaints and think of everybody else. I feel that’s why Japanese organizations seem to work more smoothly as a rule.

Yes, we do leave after our job is done. But when it comes to natural disasters, we stick together, like you guys.
British Columbia is known for its forest fires in the summer; especially Kelowna.
When people are evacuated, people take them into their homes, even if they don't know them. We donate our clothes, food, money.
We know how to work together when we're in trouble.
And it is our right to have breaks, and paid holidays. It's my right if I work a 7 hour shift to have a 30 minute break. It's my right that if I work a certain amount of time at a job, that I can have a holiday. We are all entitled to these things. It's a law in Canada.
In Canada, we have these things called "unions."
A union is an organization of workers that have banded together, often for the purpose of getting better working conditions or pay.
At my restaurant, we all work together and help each other if it's busy. There are days when I'm managing the front while my manager is helping the cook because there's too many people.
We may not stay behind until everyone is done, but we do help each other out.
Personally, I think we should take individual's rights a bit more seriously, though I'm proud of the team play spirit. I couldn't agree more to the rights you mentioned above. We also have unions in Japan, but they seem weaker.
