Slept Like A Log?

I was watching a movie called “The Name of the Rose” this afternoon, but I ended up sleeping for hours.
And I woke up finding a terrible stomachache.
It is funny that I had the stomachache in my dream, too.
Well, I recently found a little interesting expression while reading a book.
The sentence is that “I went to bed and slept like a log.”
As far as I know, there isn’t a Japanese expression saying, “I sleep like a log.”
We have an expression saying like “I sleep like I’m dead.” in Japanese, though.
The book seems to be written over at least 50 years ago.
Is it an old expression?
P.S. I’ll read and comment on yesterday’s entry tomorrow.

Well, "sleep like a log" is an American idiom and it's widely used today, too.

"I slept like a log" and "I slept like the dead" are still used. They both mean to sleep so deeply that nothing could wake you up.
Ever try to wake up a log? Better not to bother...
Yep! I'm Australian and we say it too. Actually... people say it about me haha. I'm a very sound sleeper.
Do you know "out like a light"? It means to fall asleep really quickly.
"She was out like a light." = "She fell asleep straight away."
The sentence being: “I went to bed and slept like a log.”

I sleep like I’m dead!
Thank you for your comments to all!
“Sleep like a log” sounds very funny to me and “out like a light” is funny, too.
I didn’t know the idiom, either.
