You will earn 3 credit hours in Fundamentals of Mathematics and 3 credit hours in Elementary Algebra that will transfer as if they were being taught in the traditional format. Students will receive credit on their transcript for MATH 111 and MATH 115.

I was reading website of community college. This is a part of explanation of Math class named "Accelerated Math: Fundamentals/Elementary Algebra". i dont understand how many credits i will receive if I take this class. Please explain in easy English^^

It sounds like you will get a total of 6 credit hours for taking this course, but I can't be sure. Don't take my word for it. The way colleges have things set up can be quite difficult to understand. That's why basically all schools have guidance counselors that you can talk to. I couldn't understand my own school's system when I was in university, so I saw a counselor as well. I knew a lot of people who had to take an extra semester or two because they didn't fill out all their requirements correctly because they never asked for help. So be sure to do it! :)

Thank you very much. Currently I'm not in community college. I want to study in USA and i was wondering what kinda class students in USA take. I just remembered that i dont understand my university's system. I tried but i failed. hahaha

The classes people take depends on their major, but the first 2 years tend to be a lot of general classes. In my case, I was required to take a lot of math and physics classes (my major was Computer Science). I chose optional things like Geography too... almost enough to have a minor in Geography. :P

Some people don't decide their major right away, so there's that too. It's easier to fill requirements of a major if you know it beforehand though.

It varies a bit by university, but at most a standard class is worth 3 credits. This one probably meets for longer (or more often) than most classes, and as a result you get as much credit as taking two separate classes. So by taking this one class you get the same credit as if you had taken both MATH 111 and MATH 115. Since those are each 3 credits, you get a total of 6 credits from this one class.

I think its a good idea to try to understand as much as you can about credits, classes, etc. before making your decision. That way you'll know exactly what you need to do and can prepare.

I found that I need to take about 10 classes in a week. (1 class lasts about 90 min?)

I need 15 credits in a semester. So If i take this math class i will probably need to take more 9 classes?

At my university it was common each semester to take 5 classes that are worth 3 credits each for a total of 15 credits. Usually the number of credits is the same as the number of hours that the class meets per week. So if a class is worth 3 credits it probably meets for a total of 3 hours per week. Usually this means it meets 3 times per week for 1 hour each time --OR-- it meets 2 times a week for 1.5 hours each time.

When you say you need to take 10 classes per week, what you probably mean is you need to meet for class a total of (about) 10 times. That isn't the same as taking 10 different classes, because most classes meet 2 or 3 (or maybe even 4 or 5) times per week. It sounds like the class you are talking about is worth 6 credits, so it might meet 4 times per week for 1.5 hours each time. If you chose 3 more classes that each meet twice per week, then you could add those 3x2=6 class meetings to the 4 from this class and you'd have a total of 10 class meetings per week (but only 4 different classes).

ややこしい。。。

Hopefully that makes sense, but let me know if it doesn't. These things can be kind of complicated until you actually sign up for classes and see how it all works.

I can get one credit by taking an hour class in a week for 16 weeks. I should take class for 15 hours in a week, because I want to take 15 credits in each semester. If I take the math class, I will have 6 credits, so I need to take class for 9 hours per week to get 15 credits. If the classes last 1.5 hours, I need to take 6 classes. If 1 hour, I need to take 9 classes. is this right?
