27/07/11 - Tuition fees at Uni in Sydney

I paid a school fee for next term.
That was $10,140 for four subjects.
Uni in Sydney is really expensive.
Local students have to pay only one-third.
It is unfair, isn't it?

I used up almost all my savings,
and have to save the rest (or balance?) for living expenses.
Because I have not asked my parents for help yet,
my life in Sydney has been very hard.

By the way, my previous students left for Auckland, in New Zealand
as a school trip.
I hope they have a good time over there!!
I envy them!! haha

former and previous...what is the difference??

すみません！I thought you were talking about people that you study with - I didn't realise you were talking about people that you teach! :) (So you are a student, but also a teacher?)

As for "former" and "previous" - "former" tends to be used for people - eg: former flatmate, former students, former friend etc. "previous" is used more for things and times - eg: the previous day, the previous episode, the previous week etc.

Thought of another way to explain it - "former" = used to be, but isn't any more (eg: they were your students before, but now they are people who were once taught by you)
