IMO, the quality of washing machines is very bad in Sydney.
After I used them, I found that my clothes were damaged a lot.
I wasted heaps of my clothes from Japan.
If you want to stay in Australia for a long period,
you should not take nice clothes with you.
It would be better bring some cheap but tough material such as Uniqlo.
After I noticed this fact, I tend to wash some of my clothes by hand.
Do not waste your favorite clothes!! haha

After I noticed this fact, I tend to watch wash some of my clothes by hand.watch = 見る wash = 洗う
Do not waste your favorite clothes!! 「waste」って大丈夫ですが、「ruin」の方が英語らしくなると思います。
i will work on yours!!
waste
でもだいじょうぶですが is more natural

Did you use the right settings on the washing machine and the correct water temperature?
All these things make a difference.
But you are probably right. I'm sure they make them ruin your clothes so you will buy more clothes and help their associate companies in the fashion industry get richer and richer. Or have I just become terribly cynical? LOL
i meant home washing machines...but i think the coin laundry is worse haha
you mean light setting? i set everything that i want to do
but not good...only after several times washing...my tshirt became so bad...i cannt wear any more...
yeah, all my T-shirts shrink or go out of shape after I wash them, so I usually buy them much bigger than I need and let them shrink - i can't be bothered hand washing T-shirts, hehe
It's better to wash by hand. = You'd better wash by hand
In this case they really mean the same thing, but in other contexts they can be different.
It's better not to be late for class.
You'd better not be late for class.
The second one is stronger. It means you will get in trouble. The first one may mean that, too, but it is more of a recommendation than an implied threat.
It's better to live life without debt to anyone.
You'd better live your life without debt to anyone.
The second one is stronger and means you really should do it or you must do it. The first is that it is recommended to do it. In the first one, life will be better if you do it, in the second one, there could be bad things happen if you do it.
It's better to stand here. (the lighting is better here)
You'd better stand here. (or i will get angry)
You'd be better off standing here. (the lighting is better - recommendation)
you'd better = you had better
you'd be better off = you would be better off
分かった? Got it? :)
yeah i got it ...thank for givin me many examples so that its very easy to understand!!
had better and should...which is stronger to listeners??
must is much stronger them right??
(I think it would be a good idea to do it, I think if you don't there might be some bad consequences, maybe I think it would be in your own best interests if you did it.)
You should do it before your father gets home.
You ought to do it before your father gets home.
(I think it would be a good idea to do it, I hope you do it, maybe I think you even have a duty to do it.)
You must do it before your father gets home.
You have to do it before your father gets home.
(I think it would be a good idea to do it, in fact, I don't think you have a choice if you know what is good for you, you really need to do it. It's imperative.)
(These last two sentences can also mean you need to do it BEFORE he gets home, it is no use after he gets home, then it would be pointless doing it.)
There are other nuances of meaning of these modal verbs, I am limiting the discussion here to a certain type of context. For example, another use is:
You MUST study this!
(Meaning as above)
You MUST understand this by now!
(= Surely you understand this by now - a sort of subtle imperative - you had better understand it by now or I'm gonna kick you in the behind!)
I hope you understand! ;)
thank you for your time!!
when i teach i will use urs!!
You have to send me $1.43 every time you use one of my explanations. ;)
Why is it that every time they sell a COPY of one of Elvis Presley's songs (for a few dollars), his heirs receive a royalty?
But every time they sell one of the ACTUAL paintings of Vincent Van Gogh (for tens of millions of dollars), his heirs receive nothing.
You explain that to me, and then I'll explain how I arrive at $1.43 precisely. :)
anyway...i will keep it a secret so that at least its free haha
It would be better to bring some cheap but clothes made of tough material such as those from Uniqlo.
After I noticed noticing this fact (Ever since I realized this), I tend to wash some of my clothes by hand.
Some of my relatives are Australians (my aunt got married to an Australian and they live in Melbourne :)
Are you enjoying your stay in aus? :)
so-so...for me its better to live in japan haha
melb seems nice!!
yeah they always say I should pay a visit and stay in their house in melbourne...perhaps I shall visit them in March or April
I've had lots of people from China and Japan come and stay with me for long periods. I have never had anyone who did not love living in Melb.
I could be biased, though! :)
Are you still hosting homestays?
I'm thinking about doing a master degree in interpretation in Aus. It seems that Macquarie, Monash and Queensland are the major universities hosting such programs? It would be quite a big decision to make though, as I'm happy with my current job...
its not university programs though
