This arvo I was using a computer at my university.
Strange and loud sounds suddenly came off.
At first I heard them from afar, but they got coming closer to my place.
I did not know what was going on.
Many people srarted to leave the buliding very slowly
and I thought it was a mischief like someone's pushing alarm.
I just followed some people wihout knowing the case. haha
After all, I found that technically it was a "fire drill".
Thank to this event, I learned the new word "fire drill".
If it was real, everyone would die, I suppose. haha

This afternoon I was using a computer at my university. (After searching the internet I found out that "arvo" is slang in Australia for "afternoon")
Strange and loud alarms suddenly went off.
At first I heard them from afar, but they got coming closer to where I was. [but they came closer to me.]
I did not know what was going on. [happening] <--- an alternative
Many people started to leave the buliding very slowly
and I thought it was a prank like someone had pushed an alarm.
I just followed some people without knowing the cause. [the reason] <---- an alternative
After all, I found out that technically it was technically a "fire drill." [Afterwards I found out that it was a "fire drill."] (punctuation goes inside quotation marks.)
Thank to this event, I learned the new word "fire drill." (Technically it is a "phrase" ...)
If it had been real, everyone would have died, I suppose.
The point of a fire drill is to get everyone used to leaving calmly instead of going crazy. So ... in the event there is a real fire, there won't be chaos, which would really hurt the chances of everyone getting out safely ._.
i dont know whether everyone knew that it was a drill...
thats why i wrote it that way...
i cannt used the internet at home at the moment...so i cannt correct yours... sorry about that...
So ... the students around you, while calm, were certainly not serious. So I see your point.
but its our character...haha
i heard about it...
We had one every year in school. We always liked them though, it got us out of class for at least 15 minutes. ;)
We have tornado drills here as well, but I never figured out how crouching down out in the hallway was gonna save me really... :/ If I was a tornado, and I saw like 250 kids all lined up in a row, it'd be like bowling with kids :D *bad* sorry :<
tornado drills...haha sounds like perculiar one...not here although many typhoons come to japan ...(at the momenta big tyhoon is hitting japan)
i think you can learn how to fly with tornadoes :P
In the end, I found out that it had been a "fire drill".
Many people started to leave the buliding very slowly,
and I thought it was a prank like someone had pushed the alarm.
Thanks to this event, I learned the phrase "fire drill."
