Last year, my friend from Colorado told me that we called a hamburg stake salisbury steak in the US. "Salisbury" is not common in Japan. So I often forget the word. Is it common for you?

Last week I took my daughters to a restaurant which is called "Hamburg Labo" Their most favorite dish is "salisbury steak. This restaurant is a local sulisbury specialized restaurant. We have been off to the restaurant twice or three times. We remembered that the taste was wonderful.

Before departing my daughters were shortly dancing in our bike parking space. It looked enjoyable and funny.

I parked my mama bicycle in front of the front door of the restaurant and we got in it. It does not a large space for many customers but the interior was neat. We were took to a private room.
All we ordered sailsbury plates.

Saying "Itadaki ma~su" we began to eat the meal. "Delicious", "Wonderful" each of us always shouted and eat the salisbury steak. No doubt, this is the best taste around here in Kyoto. Promise. :)

I always walk along Karasuma Street between my apartment and my office. I noticed that a Mama Bicycle with a large black bucket parked next to a new cafe restaurant.

I immediately found out that that was an electrically assisted bike with a Hamax child seat.

It was a Panasonic bike. I also noticed that that black bucket would smile. I had remembered this bucket. Anyway, this small Panasonic mama bicycle is as popular as Anjelino or Frackers. How do we say, it's a common style. I heard that this bike was reliable from a bike supplier. I also recommend this one :) ( I also smile here, hehe.)

I took my father to a hospital. My mother had her own business. So I was her alternative to go to the hospital with him.

Well, my father and I have waited for his turn for two hours. So long.

The doctor was a bit surprised by me because my mother always takes him there.

My father told me that I was my brother to the doctor. I explained his latest situation to the doctor.

Probably, it will take long time to take care of him with my mother's patience.

It's the life.

I sometimes see this mama bicycle, called a Frecker's Papa.

Probably, this "mama" bicycle had been developed and manufactured a decade ago. I kike this shape of the front basket. The handle bar has multiple functions, a handle of a bike and a frame of a child seat. This design is dynamic, right?

It was parked near the Kamo River. It was not a sunny day, but there were many people who were walking or biking around there.

A red Frackers was also parked next to the Freckers Papa. Both are made by Maruishi.

I am in Toranomon Tokyo. You can find a mountain which height is 23m which is called Atago mountain. I saw two high Atago Hills too. :) Of course, these building is higher than the mountain. (In the Pictures of left and center)

I write a bit about this small bike. This bike is designed that you can seat two children. An federal agency in Japan had tested its safety when you seat two children on both front and back. You are able to find out some positive thoughts from its users. It's cheaper than Anjelinos. It has five gears. So I also recommend this small type when I recommend Anjelinos. If you would like to get it or being interested in getting it. Feel free to ask me. :) (In the Picture of right)

shuichi : Kyoto Manga Musium (5)

I am in a Shinkansen, Nozomi super express bound to Tokyo. I will stay in Tokyo until tomorrow on business. I will write a today's post only with one possibly uploadable picture....

My daughters and I went to the Kyoto International Manga Museum. The weather might be changeable. It's best to go there when it's a sunny day because you can read cartoons outside the building. That makes you feel more relaxed.

Anyway, we got there after I biked in fifteen minutes. As would be expected there were many visitors there. It didn't rain yet most people were lying under the sky. We followed them. On the other hand, my oldest daughter took part in drawing a paper which would be contained in a booklet. She is always ready to get involved to any activity.

Soon after we began to read cartoons it's a shame but it started to rain. All the people got inside. As should be expected there were the crowded people inside the building. I let my youngest daughter read a big picture book. She did it. Next to her, my oldest daughter finished drawing her role of paper. It looked great.

After a while it got better in the weather although it rained a little yet. We got outside again. My daughters did their homework on a pair of picnic chairs. It was a nice day.

My family and I biked to a home appliance department store, Yodobashi Kyoto.

Yodobashi is a large department and it's next to the JR Kyoto Station. We went there via Gojyo Street. My oldest daughter posted her letter on the way.

Yodobashi Kyoto has a large bike parling area on it's underground. We parked our bikes there.

As usual there were many customers in the Yodobashi. My family and I walked around there. My youngest daughter got interested in a robot dog a lot at that day.

We bought some goods and had dinner too. There is many restaurants too in a floor of the large building. We decided to eat Taipei dim sum. My daughters like to this dish a lot. It reminded me of being in Hong Kong last spring. It was delicious.

Finally, there is also a bike floor. It mainly sells electrically assisted bikes. There were also many electrically assisted popular Mama Bicycles. These rates were around $1350. Yodobashi sells a variety of goods as their lowest price in general, but these electrically assisted Mama Bicycles' rates have been the same in these years. I think they might look expensive, on the other hand, they are worth buying considering their long life and wonderful performance. Thank you.
I went jogging along my usual jogging route in the Kyoto Imperial Palace on the weekend. I saw some family came to the park inside the palace. This place was very cheerful a month ago when cherry blossoms fully bloomed.

Now this place is a greenery and a park for these families. Most of them came there while biking.

There were many Mama Bicycles. I noticed a gold Anjelino Assista Petite, which I highly recommend...

There are many kinds of Mama Bicycles. I decided the Mama Bicycle of the day. This was...

this orange one. This is a cheaper and cool although the reliability is less than Anjelino. But managed in Japan is enough reliable. Promise.

It was a calm place, I felt calm there. :)

It was a rainy day, but it's not so badly. My daughters and I biked to an usual weekend cafe.

- Sorry, I can't use Crome while connecting Lang-8 with Crome. And I can' attach any photo using IE right now. I will only write this post without picture... Thanks. -

PS. I have updated IE and I attached pictures. The cyclist who wore a while rain coat was a police officer in Kyoto. Thanks.

The cafe is very near from apartment. It takes us only 10 minutes to get there. So I let my young daughter hold her little umbrella while she was sitting in the front basket. It's effective enough to prevent her from being wet much. On the way, a police officer ride his bike in front of us. And we wait for a traffic sign from red to green at an usual intersection. But he never said that it's better for you and your daughters not to hold umbrella while biking. Yes, it's illegal to hold an umbrella while biking even in Japan. But everybody hold umbrella while riding their mamacharis and police officers don't say them :) Of course, an accident from holding an umbrella is responsible for each rider, and basically it's not good, I think so.
At the cafe we had breakfast and they did their homework. It was also an usual good weekend morning. It was good.

I have written a draft letter to a pal in the US. I wrote it in Japanese first, and I translated it into English. I would appreciate it if you would correct the English. Thank you.

Hi Richard
It's been a while, how are you?

I know that you always update your blog every day, so I think you are fine as it would be expected.

Ah, as you might know it, I have finally shipped a Mama Bicycle to a family abroad fo r the first time. They live in Prague. They seem to enjoy ride it. It took many arrangements for me, but their child's smile made me very happy.

Another thing, the Yen has reached 100 yen per dollar for the first time in 4 years. Compared to the rate, 78 yen per $ in 2012 Nov, JPY has became over 20% weaken.

So I plan to collect a certain number of orders from the US again.

I have two plans. First, a personal order. If a customer order their one using the international mail they can get it in approximate 3 weeks. Recently, the regulation to shipping lithium battery has been softened to even to ship it to the US.

Second, I will correct 20 or 40 orders from the US in order to ship them in a 20 feet container. I have to find a consignee who is also a bike shop owner. I can ship the bike in a parcel which has been assembled by 70 % from 100% completion. Then the partner will assemble them after shipping. If I pack a Mama Bicycle which has been 70% assembled I can ship the double number compared to only shipping completely assembled ones the shipping rate may became half.

I would appreciate it if you would tell about this plan on your blog again. :)

It was a hot day after long cool days recently. I thought it would be nice to go to a river to get a medaka. I talked about it with my daughters, and they were sure to agree with my thought.

We first went to a 100 yen shop to get nets for catching fish. We have gotten ready for it.

We went to the Kamo river. It's a perfect day to walk IN the river as we did last summer. On the way we saw some other families walk along the river while handing the similar nets. We thought the same things.

But nobody wore their sandals for walking in the river except us. We prepared for it intentionally. We walked in the river searching for medaka for a long time. Walking itself was fun. Especially they were really excited when they tried to catch a flying butterfly in the river.

It's a shame we couldn't catch any medaka although we god hundreds of them last summer. Well we said all medala have died or they were yet eggs? Well, only one medaka seems to be alone for a while. But we will get some medaka in summer.
This is the final post from my latest series, where is the best to test-drive a Mama Bicycle. Of course, I believe these places should be also very good to every tourist to Kyoto. So if you spend several days in Kyoto, fortunately, I would like you to go there. OK, here we go.

I would like to introduce two forest paths. I often write about both places on my posts. So I will not talk about them a lot, but instead will upload many pictures of them. So please see them.

The first forest path exists in the Tadasu forest which is next to the Shimogamo Shrine. Sometimes there are festival events like some horses run on the path. That day the shrine's officers arranged the ground to let the horses run there and run some ropes. You can see the calm greenery there. Needless to day, this forest is one of the World Heritage Sites in Kyoto. I will also add the Shimogamo Shrine's pictures.

The second forest is next to the Kyoto Imperial Palace and inside the palace.

I liked the forest path the most. The greenery always made me feel calm. I thought as I was in the sea. You know you can see such a water tree in the sea in a sea shore of Japan sea. You can also drink one of the five purest spring water in Kyoto here.

You then bike or walk in the forest path in the Palace from the east gate. This is the end of this series. I hope you will be there. Thank you.

This is a continuation of my latest post. I would like to show some refreshing pictures taken along the Kamo river.

I don't know the river is the most beautiful and fantastic river to be off to in Japan, but no doubt this river always allows every walker, runner and cyclist to feel calm and refreshed when they come along.

The path along the river is not of asphalt but of sand and mud. There are many wild flowers and glasses besides the river.

These side of things may contribute the excellence of the river. Furthermore, this river has been used by Kyoto citizen from 1300 years ago.

This long history of Kyoto may have been developing this atmosphere along the river. Of course, cars or motorcycles are not allowed to drive there so you can safely and calmly bike there.

I have been listing to CNN radio podcast every day for approximate from 3 to 4 months. So I am used to recon the headlines news there days. Boston bombing, Bangladesh tragedy, Syria's civil war, and the recently solved terrible kidnapping. Well, there are all sad stories. Tonight, I feel sorry, especially to the Castro's daughter. Of course, the captives, three women and their children's tragedies are beyond comprehension. But the suspect's daughter is also very poor. Night.

I had e-mail from Singapore last week. The sender is a mother who would like to buy her Mama Bicycle during her family vacation in Japan. She said that she'd like to test drive a Mama Bicycle in Japan. She may have a chance to do it in Kyoto. So I would like to show some good places where you easily and happily enjoy biking. So today I will show you some pictures of Oike Street which is a popular boulevard where you can easily bike on its wider sidewalks. I took these pictures while jogging in this morning. The pictures follows from west to east, from Horikawa Street to Kawaramachi Street.

Caption:This is a Oike subway station where you can get there from Kyoto Station in seven minutes.

I don't think it's not easy for a tourist to bring back a Mama Bicycle to their home because a Mama Bicycle is not easily shipped personally with every shipping method. The weight of a Mama Bicycle is usually around 66 lb and it would be packed in a very large box which volume is not usually allowed to be shipped by Fedex. But I think it's a good thing that a mother from abroad tests drive a Mama Bicycle in japan. So I would appreciate it it would help a bit for her.

Caption:You can see the Kyoto City Hall where you also bike there.

I will tell about another good bike paths in the Kamo River tomorrow. I also hope that a tourist to Kyoto will think of these places as their destinations. Thank you.
Today was a Mother's Day in Japan. I took my daughters to a nearby flower shops as we planned to do last night. It is a flower shop where I sometimes buy some flowers.

Today was also a very sunshine day. We feel so good when we left home.

At that flower shop some other families came and bought their flowers for their mother's days.

My daughters searched for the best one for their mother. I gave them an advice that frozen flowers would continue to bloom for a long time as I bought the green one last summer which is still beautiful in out dining room. That's why they chose one pink frozen flower. Hehe, it was a good shopping.

Here is my Mama Bicycle blog's post's link http://mamabicycle.blogspot.jp/2013/05/biking-for-their-mothrs-days.html
Thank you, Pohnpei

It's not as hot these days as it is in this usual spring season. But it was a sunshine day on last Sunday. So we enjoyed biking to a restaurant which was a bit far away from our home compared to a nearby usual cafe. We went there to have breakfast and to do their homework as usual.

The restaurant is around south from the Kyoto Imperial Palace.

I ordered a morning meal and they ordered Ampanman meal which were kinds of meal for children. They were delicious. They did their home work after the breakfast. We have been able to continue this weekend custom. I feel I am thankful.

The weather was good enough for many family to bike to everywhere. I thought many of them went to the Palace or to the river. The good season for biking really began in Kyoto ;)
Today is a short post. Have you heard of 都道府県? These sequential Japanese characters represent four different prefectures' names. Basically 県 is a common prefecture's name for many areas in Japan. 都 is for Tokyo. 道 is for Hokkaido and 府 is, yes, for Kyoto! (Revised: Osaka is also 府） I would appreciate it if you could study a bit of Japan.

I took my daughters to the Kyoto Prefecture Hall for the first time although we often pass by the Kyoto City Hall. You can see the Kyoto Prefecture Hall in the first picture. It is located at west side of the Kyoto Imperial Palace.

P.S. I remember that I took my oldest daughter into the city hospital near the prefecture hall in the mid-night when she was two years old. I saw a red anjelino parked next to the red cross....
I have some pals on line. He is also one of my important pals who has a bike activity. His name is Philip. He lives in Ireland. I knew him three years ago when I began to write about Mama Bicycle. He sent me an e-mail when he read my blog.

http://cyclingwith.com/

It has been a while that I contacted him when I would like to let him know that I had finally shipped a Mama Bicycle abroad. He replied to me. He said congratulations on my first sales and he introduced his new activity, Cycling With.

I would like to introduce it to you. The movie taken on April 23th is a famous mayor's story. I think he is a man of action. I would like to be a man of action too. Thank you and thanks Philip. It was a sunshine day too. My daughters and I biked out that day too.

We biked along the Hori River and the Rori-kawa Street. This is a short question. Hori River is written 堀川, but Hori-kawa Street is 堀川通り. I don't think this street called Hori River Street in general. Which one do you think is natural. Thank you.

The Hori River is a narrow and artificial river which runs along Horikawa street. It was said that the Hori river was frequently used when many people carry industrial materials or commercial goods in the past because this river has been run in the central area in Kyoto.

Recently, the river has been reconstructed as a beautiful river which passersby and tourists enjoy walking along. You can't bike next to the river.
shuichi : I am working at my office to test a new global application for auditing. (6)

I am working at my office to test a new global application for auditing.

I was extremely busy during the golden week, Japanese long holiday in May. I've escaped other engagement roles to the testing ;)

Well, yesterday, I had a bad response from an impolite female colleague who always goes home at 5pm. She was angry when she didn't get my reply. To be honest, I intentionally ignored her e-mail because she lacked a politeness. This was the first tome for me to ignore any e-mail. I dislike impoliteness or carelessness the most. So I have to pass it over from my mind although I feel annoyed right now.

Anyway, I received an answer from my Mama Bicycle survey today. Sometime, when I forget it, someone answers me that one would like to get a Mama Bicycle. I received an e-mail from Singapore which read that a mom would like to buy a Mama Bicycle during her stay in Japan in the sear future. I hope I would help her to get her favorite one. Probably this answer was from her.

Back to work, and I will leave here soon today. Bye.

She Revenged her Trial!

My youngest daughter rode her own bike on the weekend. My oldest daughter and I followed her and lead her on the way to a destination that day. She could not succeed in biking through when she went to a toy store, twice. So we hoped that she would successfully bike out and bike back.

We decided to go to a park next to the Nijyo castle. It was the near destination compared to the usual destination, the toy store which is two kilometers away from our home. So we hope that she would prepare her task this time.

It was a good pace when she biked along the Nijyo castle. On the way she always pedaled aggressively. She finally managed to reach the goal. We then played at the park for a quite a long hours. They played at many equipment for children.

After playing we headed for our home. My youngest daughter began to pedal on the way home. My oldest daughter and I were a bit concerned about her failure. But she continued to pedal all the way home. She finally completed her trial. Congrats. Ah, she will try to ride her bike without sub wheels. :)

PS She Revenged her Trial! Is this title OK? :) Thank you. And sorry that I have only written this post in Japanese...

shuichi : Do You Think This is Smarter or Cooler Than Other Mama Bicycles? (6)

I will write a Mama Bike post. I would appreciate it if you could correct my English. Thank you. ;)

I sometimes see these 20 inch wheels Mama Bicycles other than those of Anjelinos or Panasonic's. I think these types are a bit cooler than other normal or traditional mamachari types. I think it is an option for every mom to take when they choose their Mama Bicycles.

This one was parked in front of the fancy garment shop TOMORROW LAND which is located next to my office building. (It is not allowed to bike along the street, so it's not very often that I see any bike there normally....) It was a neat one. It's a pity that I didn't know which manufacture made it. I sometimes wish I could make my own Mama Bicycle like this by myself. I saw the other yellow 20 inch Mama Bicycle when I went to a nearby super market. I think I see many of them.

Compared to Anjelinos or Panasonics' which are high end models these other 20 inches are rather less reliable when you really ride it. Mainly because these frames are thinner than those of Anjelinos or Frackers.. Every bike shop owner or staff told me that Anjelinos were the masterpieces which Bridgestone made and said that every mom could reliably ride.

I think other ones would be enough reliable to ride too. But, the reliability may be the most important factor when moms choose these Mama Bicycles when they seat their child on it. So I will recommend Anjelinos, Panasonic or Frackers when it comes to be asked what would be best for foreign mothers. But this is my opinion.
I have already written some greenery in Kyoto which I have been off to this spring. I will write another one today.

I took my daughters to one of the most recommendable places in Kyoto instead of being off to a nearby cafe in the morning. I like to go there very much although we always go to the nearby cafe every weekend.

The destination was a forest library. Have you heard of such a library? I know two places including this one. I chosen this greenery to let my daughters have breakfast and do their usual homework there.

To be honest, they don't seem to feel as relaxed when they see such a greenery as I do so. Furthermore, they dislike any bugs, even small ones. I feel sad of this, but I don't blame them.

But, they enjoyed themselves there, especially when we played hiding ourselves in the forest and reading and showing a picture book from the forest library. It was fun.

Well, I have not taken a day off this golden week. I am extremely busy, usually work until 3AM. I hope I will be in holiday from tomorrow...

We went out riding our Mama Bicycle last weekend. It was a sunshiny day and many family were out along every street. Some of them were riding their Mama Bicycles.

We still wear some of winter clothing because of this weird cold spring. I don't think it has been a normal warm spring. We need to wear some winter clothing once in a while. Well, I hope it will be warmer soon though.

My youngest daughter had a book with her when she left home. She was reading it while sitting in the front child seat. She sometimes enjoys reading a book there.

I am strictly busy this week. So I am still in my office at 2:30 AM and I will write a Mama Bike post. Of course, I will sleep soon...

I sometimes receive e-mails from Singapore about Mama Bicycles. I am glad when I hear from them. One of them loved Frackers. So I will write about Frackers tonight. I saw a mild yellow Frackers last weekend. This is a brand new type. I rather respect Frackers because Maruishi which manufactures Frackers bikes is the pioneer of Mama Bicycles. I remember it was a nice bike when I test drove it in the Imperial Palace in Tokyo too. On the other hand, Maruisi has not manufactured 20 inch wheels Mama Bicycles which are able to be shipped on the Japan post international mail service. That's why I rather tend to write about Anjelinos.

I liked the old Japanese house where the Frackers was parked at that day. It was neat.

Frackers has a wonderful front child seat which has softer cusions. I think the new Frackers has an advanced cushion which was not only softer but also durable. Maruishi has begun to manufactured an electrically assisted one too. I think it will produce 20 inch wheels..... Anyway, back to home right now.!
My youngest daughter and I biked through the Kyoto Imperial Palace, where you can see a lot of green. It was on the way home from the Shimogamo shrine.

The Kyoto Imperial Palace is the squared estate and has several gates in all directions. We entered into the north gate along Imadegawa Street.

The palace has the large garden and forest in it. You can walk or bike there. In this season, you can feel relaxed when you walk there. Kyoto is the 7th largest population city in Japan. so there are many buildings, but you can experience the wild field for a moment.

On the half way there you can sea one of the main gates of the house of the old Japanese emperor. In another world it's the largest garden in Kyoto. We biked through the forest to the south gate. It's not so special thing, but I am thankful to this opportunity.

This is a continuation from the previous forest market post. That day my youngest daughter hardly cried when she found that she failed to get a child ring which she would love to want.

Next day, I asked her to go there again to get a ring. She nodded. But her sister didn't. So I took her there again.

The forest market was held on Saturday and Sunday. It's held once a year.

I noticed that almost all shops were changed between two days and there would not be the same shop where the ring was sold. I slightly wondered whether she would notice it.

On the other hand, there were many fascinated shops and I wanted to get something to eat there. I ordered some homemade bread and special bento.

She was also fascinated by these tastes and she loved them. We were satisfied when we eat them.

We walked around the shops for one hour and we found the similar shop which sold many accessories for child. We then found a similar ring which was sold yesterday. She was also satisfied by it alternatively. It was good. :)

They kindly sent me some pictures that they rode it there.
The father told me that his adorable daughter loved the bike although she looks rather annoyed in these pictures.
I am happy when I receive the pictures that they seem to enjoy their bike life safely and happily.
I would like to keep in touch with the family.
I do hope that they will ride it for at least six years when the baby will graduate from the passenger.
