Trigger is トリガー which represents a knob on a gun physically but there is very few guns in Japan. So トリガー usually represents a key factor to let something begin. "Article 50 has been triggered" is probably 第50条が発動された. I think this phrase might be translated the article 50 was adopted. So how triggered is used ?
