I often go to the Shimogamo shrine as I have written about it many times. I will introduce some holly trees there. The trees are not trimendously big or huge, but they have special atmosphere or holly aspect.
There are the other holly trees there. Ropes are rounded on the trees. These are called Shime-Nawa. I think these trees may be called Goshinboku. It is that people usually think such old trees have some great power.
We entered the red gate of the shrine and prayed there. As you may know there are basically no specific gods to everyone there. It may not be said definately, but we pray to some unbiguous gods to be thankful or to ask peace for us. It depends on persons to persons.
Anyway, to pray is not always necessary to everyone. But I want to continue to visit there to pray everyday.
