Visiting Qidong Poetry Salon
Today, my friend invited me to take part in a lecture in Qidong Poetry Salon.
Ministry of Culture made Qidong Poetry Salon to use historical building to spark a new poetic renaissance.
The speaker of today’s lecture is Lee Chang-Ching. The subject is “The Dimention of Modern Poetry: A Respondent to Time and poetry”. The speaker taught us how to appreciate modern poetry in an interesting way. For example, he let us listen to popular music and watch glove puppetry (a type of traditional opera in Taiwan).
What he shared impressed me most is “everyone is a poet”. Not all the people write poetry. However, some people can still be called poets because they live in poetic styles of lives. Poetry is not so far as we imagined. He also encouraged us to write poetry. The feeling of achievement is wonderful.
I do not understand poetry very much, but the lecture resonated me.
I think poets are the people who have genuine passion and unique perspectives on world. They have free souls. Their lives must be interesting and romantic.
