Different Expressions
One of interesting thing in learning languages, including mother tongue and foreign languages, is able to know different expressions. I think that different expressions not only display various personalities of cultures but also giving others different feelings. For example, when other people say “thank you” to us, we respond “you are welcome” in English, and “不用客氣” in Chinese. I think the English expression conveying your pleasure of helping others. On the other hand, “不用客氣” seems saying that you do not have to be so polite and unfamiliar. Perhaps, both of the two expressions are fixed usages, but I still feel warm when hearing “you are welcome.”
