Learning Japanese
I have learned Japanese by myself for two years. I do not have enough chances to practice speaking and writing. This year I start to write Japanese diaries on Lang8. To improve my speaking I hired a Japanese student as my tutor. Today is our first class. At beginning, I introduced myself with a stutter in my speaking. After that she taught me Honorific speech in Japanese which always confuses me. I learned some basic expressions of honorific speech in Japanese. It is difficult but interesting. I think Japanese people are sensitive to distances among people. Therefore, they speak in different ways depend on the social relation and disparity in rank. In Chinese-speaking society, sometimes we have the similar situation, but not so strict and clear as Japanese society. In English-speaking society, is there honorific speech in daily life?
