  • Because you introduce a list with the previous sentence, the list items should immediately follow. If you put this sentence in parentheses, it brackets it off from the list items and makes it clear that it's supposed to explain why you have to sleep in different positions.

  • Try to avoid starting sentences with 'and' or 'but'. You will see English writers do this, and grammarians do not agree that it is necessarily wrong, but I recommend not getting in the habit, especially if you plan on writing formally. :)
