I wonder why Japanese kill whales.
according to one explanation, we were prohibited to eat meat of the animal with four legs when Buddhism was introduced to Japan so the culture to eat fish have developed in Japan.
As a whale believed to be one of fin was a primary source of protein, it became a popular diet in the Edo Period.
It is said that the Japanese people were saved by the whale meat amid the food shortages after World War II.
Nowadays, we don't have much opportunity to eat the whale meat but it had taken root throughout our lives and cultures for Japanese people.

Sounds like it's a matter of personal opinion, actually ^0^ All the Japanese people I've talked to about it have said they've never eaten whale meat and never want to. Some of them are even activists! Times change :D
Thank you very much, Sarahu-san!
Yes, I also think so and I don't want to eat whale meat, too.
I know well that a whale is a sea mammal which has a high IQ and a family society.
I think it's a very important issue for Japanese.
I suppose it should be carried out thorough consultations through more broad range views.
Thank you for the sharing!
I learned from your journal today. :)
