I have been translating articles written about music in English into Japanese on my work, since early in the morning. This job supposed to take a whole day. So, I've took a coffee break now (even though it is almost the time for lunch) and am writing this journal entry.

Translating them, I faced English word "outlier" that was applied to a sentence as a human-related word. To check out what kind of Japanese words there are, equivalent to "outlier," if it is used for a human, I looked it up on the internet. I was consequently caught off guard by how many words hit on an online dictionary! It's incredible. (@o@)

Here are words I found which are based on a Japanese word 異端者(いたんしゃ) translating "outlier into Japanese," when it comes to human-related things:

Positive meaning:
異端児 ・ 反逆児 ・ 鬼才 ・ 異才 ・ 無冠の帝王 ・ (一門の)変わり種 ・ 変人 ・ 異な者 ・ 規格外れ ・ はずれ者 ・ (~界の)一匹狼 ・ 天の邪鬼 ・ 伝統破壊者 ・ (~の)パイオニア ・ 名誉ある孤立者

Negative meaning:
破戒僧 ・ 生臭坊主 ・ 異分子 ・ 秩序破壊者 ・ 掟破り ・ 外道(げどう) ・ 背教的(指導者) ・ はぐれ者 ・ はみ出し者 ・ アウトサイダー ・ おきて破り ・ 異邦人 ・ (単なる)暴れ者 ・ じゃじゃ馬 ・ (~界の)問題児 ・ (否応なく)疎外感を味わう

As a result, thanks to the dictionary, I feel like my translation of the article have been done much better, though it is probably presumptuous of me to say so myself!
