A Humboldt penguin that has escaped from Tokyo Sea Life Park (Kasai Rinkai Suizokuen) in March turned out to be alive and kicking in Tokyo Bay.

Last Saturday, shortly after noon, Tokyo Sea Life Park received information by phone, saying that there was a penguin off of Harumi, an official of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government said.

A staff member of Tokyo Sea Life Park watched the video that had been taken by a witness, and confirmed that it was the Humboldt penguin that had escaped from there, by the fact that it had a yellow ring for identification on its right wing.

There have been another 30 sightings; staff members are now searching around the mouth of Arakawa River and Edogawa River once or twice a day.

The official with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government urges people in the area to contact Tokyo Sea Life Park if they see the penguin, rather than trying to catch it themselves..
