I'm going to UK on April 9.
So, I am thinking about souvenir to bring that for homestay-family.
There are one child who is 15 years old and mother is around 50.
In short, what is the best souvenir ?

hmm...I think maybe a keychain with Japanese on it for the 15 year old. I am not sure about the mother though. :)

I think for a 15 year old maybe a shirt or a hat?
for a mother, definitely a shirt, or maybe a sweater.

"what' up" is a bit of an American style greeting. In the UK we often say "Alright" or "Alright mate". My workmate from Birmingham says "Watcha" so maybe it a regional greeting. To be honest you might be best sticking with "hello", it sounds a bit forced when non-native speakers go over the top with colloquialisms. Have a good time in the UK!

I'm from Birmingham and have never heard of 'watcha' I'd stick to "how're you?" :) What's up is okay to use in the UK, I believe, especially amongst young adults and teens.

I agree with your idea for bringing tea. The mother will appreciate it, especially. There are really nice teapots with the handle on the side (at least in the Shizuoka area). A tea set with little cups would be very nice for sure!

um, does everyone know japanese manga?(comic books)
I thinking a character's T-shirt or underwear is good.

I think any small thing that reflects your culture would be a good gift. I mean, something they cannot easily get in their own country.

Think about stuff you would like to receive. That is usually the best way to decide on gifts.

I agreed with someone else's suggestion for tea for the mother. As for the teenager, snacks are great.

It might be good if you find out what the teen likes. Sports, music, manga, etc.
