In Japan being sarcastic can be really really rude. If you insulted someone without reason or just for fun/joke people would upset you seriously. However, here in the UK, they love sarcasm. When Jules and I stated having a relationship his sarcasm annoyed me often. I was like "Are you being sarcastic? " "You are making fun of me aren't you? " " You are so mean." I didn't get that English sarcasm first as we have different sense of humour. It took a long time for me to understand that sarcasm is something that part of English language. To put it simply, sarcasm is lying. You are saying the opposite of what you are trying to communicate. I enjoy it and love it.
