I found that British English are a bit complicated for Japanese as we learn American English at school. As you know there is a lot of differences between American English and British one. I work for a hairdresser so such as " Can I make an appointment please” That's what I learned at school in Japan. It's easy. However, I hear this phrase often " I'm just wondering if I could〜 " It sounds modest like nice Japanese people consider something or someone to be a social lubricant, but it's complicated. I think British English are complicated but sounds beautiful.
