A haiku is a Japanese poem containing 17 syllables:

The first sentence contains 5 syllables.
The second sentence contains 7 syllables.
The third sentence contains 5 syllables.

I think writing a haiku is a great way to learn Japanese but I have two questions first:
Does ん count as one syllable?
Does あい count as two syllables?

Once I know the answer to these questions, I will try to make my own haiku in Japanese. =)
