Things I focused on in Park

I often jog in the park near my house, but today I walked around there over an hours. I could notice the things that I never focused on before. They are summarized in the mind map.

The most interesting was MANHOLE COVER! I noticed there are a huge number of manholes, and they various cool design!! Amazing!

Unfortunately, most of the pictures in my mind map are not mine. They are from google image search. However, what I want to tell you is that I didn't think even manhole covers have cool design!

I'm working as an engineer in Tokyo. I was developing a browser game for mobile phone, and now I'm trying to release my own iPhone app.

Until last year I was a graduate student and majored in astrophysics. I'm interested in many things such as science, technology, entrepreneurship, etc.

Cherry Blossoms

Japan, where the four seasons are clear and distinct, many different flowers bloom. In spring, Japanese people enjoy seeing cherry blossoms. This picture is what I took in Tokyo last weekend. It was awesome!

Today's homework is "Can you remember a time when you were surprised or touched by an act of compassion? Explain the circumstance of the action."

I wrote the following sentences and have to give a presentation of it. Please proofread it. Thanks!


While I was in LA last summer, I traveled from LA to SF by using a tour bus. On our way to SF, we stopped by Hearst Castle. I saw beautiful castle and pools, and took a lot of pictures. After a while, I noticed I lost my iPhone. I was in a panic because iPhone is the most important thing for me. On top of it, it was a package tour, so that I had to find my iPhone within 30 minutes. Otherwise, I had to leave there without my iPhone. However, I couldn't explain my situation in English to the staff in the Castle because I was in a panic. Soon after that, I met a tour guide, Linda, and she helped me to find my iPhone. She understood the situation quickly and contact with the staff instead of me. Finally, we succeeded to find it thanks to her.

After this trip, I dropped off the bus in little Tokyo in LA. I was very tired and had to call taxi to come back my dormitory because little Tokyo is far from my dormitory. However, she offered to take me to my dormitory by his boyfriend's car. Of course it was not her duty. I really appreciated her act of compassion.

I came here in San Francisco last weekend because I decided to spent this spring vacation to study English. SF is warmer than Tokyo and has good weather, so I like here. And I visited Fisherman's Wharf, Japan town, Market street, Union square, etc. Also, I went to Palo Alto to see Stanford university and Silicon Valley by Cal Train. But I couldn't go see Silicon Valley because I spent most of time in Stanford university. It was much bigger than I thought.

I decided to write entries in lang-8 about my life in SF. I wanna enjoy staying here, and improve my English skills dramatically!

Soon after the shaking, I looked for my iPhone and shine a light on my desk by it. I put out my PC very quickly, and get out my lab as soon as possible. I decided to go back my home.

On my way home, most signals didn't work, but there was no traffic accident (What a great country!). Thanks to safe driving, I arrived at home safely.

Electricity was recovered in the next morning. It was a really terrible night!

Due to the shortage of gasoline, fewer cars compared to usual run on the road in my town. Also, the speed is very low to save gasoline. Some people are difficult to go to work.

However, I heard this bad situation is being resolved from about yesterday. Gasoline are supplying to my city now. I'm glad to hear that news, and I noticed how our depend on fuels...

Death toll must be over a tens of thousands of people. In addition, the nuclear power plant in Fukushima is still in danger. Some people are worried about radioactive materials. However, most of experts think radioactive materials won't spread significantly even in the bad case. So I started usual study from today. I'm still attention to the news, though.

Before going to the school today, I was a little bit nervous because I had no chance to speak English during job hunting. However, I was able to speak well. I was relieved.

I'm going to take TOEIC, an famous English test, at the end of May. I want to get good score this time, so I'll study English very hard from now on.:)

This snowboarding is third times for me, so I was able to curve smoothly. I tripped over sometimes, though.

Snowboarding was really enjoyable, and I hope I have a chance to go snowboarding again within this season.
